Hm, I have no idea.
You could verify the following things:
- xml prolog
- dtd
- mimetype

There's a sample page which is using the XHTML_STRICT serializer:

http://localhost:8080/yanel/test/use-cases/viewtest.html?yanel.resource.viewid=xhtml

When I check this page it says "Standards compliance mode".
